Plastic Surgery for Men

Many people assume that plastic surgery is primarily for women but plastic surgery is becoming more popular among men. Over 1.3 million men had plastic surgery in the United States in 2016. Many men start with something non-invasive like Botox for facial lines or fillers for creases. This can help achieve a more rested and refreshed look in a few minutes with no downtime.

One of the most popular surgeries among men is gynecomastia correction, which I discussed in a previous blog. Hair restoration is also very popular among men with receding hairlines and thinning hair. We use the SmartGraft system which avoids a scar in the back of the scalp. We transfer 1-2 hair follicle units so the result is extremely natural looking. The procedure is done with local anesthesia and there is little downtime.

Another very popular procedure for men is liposuction of the neck, abdomen, love handles or chest. This can really improve a man’s shape and confidence. Those problem areas improve and clothes fit much better and results in more confidence in a swimsuit. The incisions are less than a centimeter and there is minimal downtime. Rhinoplasty is also commonly sought by men either to improve their appearance, correct damage that has occurred with past trauma to the nose or to improve breathing.

Other procedures for men include otoplasty which is correction of protruding ears, blepharoplasty (upper/ lower eyelid), chin augmentation, facelift and browlift. Any of these can be done with a general anesthetic but other than the body contouring and the rhinoplasty, most of the other procedures can be done with a local anesthetic. So if you are a guy and you’ve been considering improving one of these areas maybe it’s time to move forward.
